Dayum...

Some peeps must have been drinking the haterade when they cast their votes, 2.51 after my 5 vote and 9 total votes. Sheesh. Hardly fitting for what is in truth, a well crafted song.

All of the sounds are compatible, the balance is pretty damn good, it's not terribly stereotypical, and it keeps one interested throughout.

I must throw down the props to ya, well done.

8/10 and a 5 your way, f'sho.

TechnoRepublic responds:

Thank you for noticing that. I'm not sure how i feel about that, but i tr to look past it. Thanks a ton for the positive comments, I appreciate it.

Lolwut

I'd like to see the rest of the science project you whipped up from this as a flash movie, if there's a video to accompany it of course.

Love the words and styling of it too.

Who knew Germanium could be so great?!

fishfood2021 responds:

Its pretty much the best element of all time. haha :). I'd like to see it as a flash video but I'm not very talented in that area. Thanks for the review :D

Very Nifty

Gotta love a bit of Jazz to break the techno/dance/crap-made-in-FL mold that's been growing on my ears and brain lately. Very smooth, cool sound for sure. All of the "free improv" sections (whatever a jazz person might call it) sound great and fresh. I can tell you have a fine sense of balance here.

And...do I hear a slight Green Onions quote from the keyboard starting at 1:09?

Well thought out

The overall feel of this piece is stunning, and fitting for the title and the thoughts that might come into one's head with such a name. The parts flow together nicely and make for a very enjoyable work. There is also a very good balance between all the parts, be it low, high or anything in between. Such balance is definitely something to be proud of.

Well done, 5 and 10 f'sho.

A Man of my own Passions

Argh, I'm quite jealous now. Jealous of the fine theme that you constructed and built around, and jealous of the sounds you have. Where did you get that piano and harp from? I'd love to get my hands on those.

The quality of composition needs no words to describe it.

5 and 10, f'sho.

ChrisisD responds:

Haha Thanks! I use Reason 5 with a huge library of samples. For example, the piano you hear is from Reasons own Real Piano sample library. I believe it's a sampled Steinway. The harp was one I found only a couple of weeks ago randomly on the internet. I'm glad you apreciate my work!

MY EARS!

Even after you lowered it, the intro still kinda hurt my ears, but nothing that a bit of volume lowering couldn't fix.

It sounds like something from Mario where he's picking up over 9000 coins, or something like that. The first comment is onto something, would be great for a pixelated, old-school game's credits.

lilmcj22 responds:

Thnks for the comment!
And it does sound like that...
I didn't even notice that though...

Great feeling

How to compose weather music.
1) Uninstall software
2) Put Beethoven's Sixth, fourth mvt. on NG
3)????
4)PROFIT!

But fo' serious, this is good, has a great stormy feeling about it, enhanced all the more by comments you wrote.

blackattackbitch responds:

Lol true, and I didn't know about that song til you just mentioned it, so I now have something else to draw some techniques and inspiration from as I write this, so thanks.

And thanks for the review too, I'm glad you thought it captured the mood I was trying to catch.

Perfect Balance

The problem with many techno/video game songs put up on NG is that they lack a balance in their separate components, be it the melody, chordal background, harmony, bass, beat, whatever. This piece has a tremendous balance in all regards throughout the song, and that's definitely a feat to be proud of.

I wish you the best of luck in your competition.

10 and 5 f'sho.

Gario responds:

Thanks for the review!

It's nice to hear someone appreciate balance, every once in a while - I pay particular attention to that aspect, so it's nice that people notice. If you really want to blow your mind on this one, try tapping the rhythm to it - now that's the real accomplishment of this track ;)

I must Highly Recommend

This is definitely a top notch flash game loop for all sorts of action games in various genres. Not only does it sound great, but it also has a relatively seamless loop to it, meaning the end flows pretty well into the beginning (not perfectly, but as background music it needn't be perfect).

However, if I may offer a tip to you. Most flash gamers are notorious for muting anything that's even remotely annoying, and this *could* be annoying to some people. The best way I've found to avoid that is to reduce the volume level on the continuous "ssss" sounds on the drums, and also reduce the volume of all of the sounds in the higher registers. In general, the more the loop leans toward having slightly louder bass, the better.

Of course take this tip with a grain of salt, do with your music what you want.

Alt-storm-118 responds:

Thank you for your input. I've added a new track "Flight of Takashi" to the Video Game genre. Check it out, it has higher low shelving gain. You might find it a more appropriate and less annoying Video Game piece :)

Thank you for your review. I'll probably come back and remaster this at a later date.

Smoooooth

That's some good music f'sho, definitely foot-tapping/head-bobbin' during the whole song.

If this truly is REAL hip-hop, I may have to go find some more of it.

Greeksta-69 responds:

Thanks man. people get too wrapped up in mainstream shit and I realize I was getting too wrapped up in it too so I decided to take a more artistic and classical side of hip-hop.

Much love,
Greeksta
